I personally like Toshiba over Compaq. However given the price you are looking to spend both will probably be interchangeable with Celeron processors, ~80gb harddrive, integrated graphics and 256 or 512mb ram.
Go for the bigger harddrive, yo can always add memory later. Also check out cnet and see what they have to say about them if anything.
If you want one that will last and give you relatively NO problems over it’s lifetime aalong with a high level of internet security, buy a Mac. More expensive, but worth every penny.
i saw that Toshiba configuration, for average user its good.
what you should look
1. memory this one has 1024MB which is not bad
2. hard drive
3. you will have shared graphic memory.
keep in mind that microsoft 2007 only a trial version so if you will need you have to buy it.
the same story goes with McAfee antivirus program.
If you are going to be lugging it around, size and weight matters. I swear mine feels like a boat anchor sometimes.
Make sure it has a cd/dvd player and plenty of usb ports.
