My laptop battery started draining really fast. Something happened like a week ago, before that the battery was holding on for at least 2 hours. Now it goes for 30 minutes only!
The laptop is HP Pavilion zt3000 bought in May 2004 in case its relevant.
I don’t know if it’s the battery or something else.

There are a lot of ways to reduce the drain on your laptop battery.
1.You should toggle your power options.
2. Turn down brightness
3. Reduce the background programs with msconfig
4. Take out all unnecessary USB devices
5. Remove DVD/CD from drives.

It’ll be the battery. Get a new battery. My laptop now lasts about 5 minutes without the charger, I need to get a new battery really but I can”t be bothered.
If it’s causing a big problem for you go onto the hp website or something. Hp isn’t the best make when it comes to batteries, I’ve got a hp too and so did my sister, the batteries have been cra* on both of them!
ive had a few laptops and i rekon 4 years for a battery is pretty good i was getting 3 years from a battery looks like its time for a new battery take the old 1 back so they can recycle it
