Laptop Will Not Power On With Battery In And Ac Adapter Plugged In.?

June 27th, 2009

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop that will not power on with battery in and AC power. I have tried removing the battery and just using AC power, but it still will not power up. When AC power applied the battery charging light comes on, but as soon as I click the power button, the charging indicator goes out. Don’t really want to spend money on a battery, if that is not the problem. TIA

  1. With the laptop getting power, it most likely is not going to be the adapter. Hp actually has a recall for this issue on several models Check out http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum... or call 1-866-671-7362 for more info.

Sounds like a problem on the I/O board too me. Maybe bad motherboard or DC connection. Call HP tech support or take it to a local computer repair place (not a big chain like Best Buy or Circuit City, their prices are outrageous).
