My Laptop Keeps Turning Itself Off…?

October 10th, 2009

Okay well I have an HP Pavilion zd8000 and I usually just keep it on the charger because I don’t have wireless internet & the battery dies fast if I don’t. The past couple of days it won’t act funny or anything but it gets really hot and then it just shuts down without warning and will just come on and then go right back off, but then if I take it off charge and leave it off for about 10 minutes and turn it back on it works fine. Is it possible that by leaving it on charge it is making it overheat and shut down? Or what could be wrong with it?

  1. Sean says:

Laptops are known for overheating, especially if they don’t have any ventilation underneath. Computers have a built-in safety measure that turns the system off if it gets too hot to avoid ruining a piece of hardware. Clean your fans (and possibly get aftermarket ones) and try to elevate it so that the air has somewhere to go.
