hello, i have a hp pavilion zt3000 laptop and my charger broke.
my laptop needs a 18.5V with 3.5A charger. But i bought a 18.5V with 4.9A, the guy of the store said it was no problem as long as the voltage is the correct, that the amperes were not important.
is this true? could i damage my laptop battery for not using the same amperage? or is it ok and it is no big deal to use this charger?

Charger, Battery And Fan .. Not Working!?
October 17th, 2009So, I have a HP Pavilion dv1000 and let’s just say that it is in a terrible state. My first(and original) charger got burnt badly to the point where the weird metal thing that goes into the laptop … melted! So I purchased another charger, and the same thing happened in a matter of days. Got the 2nd charger replaced with a 3rd …. but it still got burnt.
Obviously, by now, I am thinking that the laptop is the problem and not the charger. I searched a couple of similar questions on this site about chargers burning and laptops overheating…so it seems there may be something wrong with the fan. And my aunt thinks it’s the battery that’s the problem.
So, basically my question is, … would it be worth trying to get the fan fixed and to buy a new battery and also get a new charger or just simply purchase a new laptop? I’m thinking a new laptop would be better….but I’d like to see other people’s opinions!

What’s Wrong With My Laptop? (charger Problems)?
October 9th, 2009It will only charge and stay charged when it’s off or on standby. Once I turn it bac on it switches to the battery, and the battery has had problems since purchasing this back in 2004 – it dies in about 40 minutes with minimal programs running and the lights dimmed all the way down. Replacement batteries never work, it causes a system error. I’m not too worried about the battery, the problem is more with just it’s charging. Does a new charger need to be purchased or is this something internally? It’s an HP Pavilion zv5000. The warranty is past so I am not bringing it in anywhere.

Where Can I Find A Laptop Car Charger?
October 9th, 2009I have an HP Pavilion T5800, model dv4-1125nr (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9027705&st=hp+t5800&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218010174398) I have looked online for quite a long time looking for a compatible car charger for this model. Does anyone know where I can find one for a decent price, or have another solution? I’m going on vacation and the battery is awful (that’s my fault though).
