I purchased a brand new relatively well quipped laptop 3 days ago. From day one, right out of the box (with no downloads or tweaks) I experienced IE 7.0 crashing every 5-10 minutes; sometimes where it would recover from and sometimes where it would completely shut down. After I lost my patience I posted a question on answers and people seemed to agree I should try Firefox, so I downloaded and began using 3.0.5 only to experience crashing in Firefox as well that was equally as disruptive as IE. I am really at my wits end because I mostly use the computer for internet browsing. I am also very unhappy with the restart time which is two minutes and sixteen seconds (I actually timed it) which seems crazy for a Core 2 Duo processor with 4 gig of ram. Is this a vista thing? I believe I have ruled out IE 7.0 by replicating the same problem with Firefox. In case it matters I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1

Desperate Computer Help Needed Please!!?
November 13th, 2009I just bought a new HP Pavilion DV6601AX with Windows Vista, but did not get a standard antivirus with it. A few days ago my friend installed an antivirus program on it for me, and it worked fine. However, yesterday, I tried to boot it, and the window screen did show up (as completely BLACK for a while) and then the taskbar came up, but the cursor never stopped being busy. It just showed up as a ‘busy circle’. I gave it some time, but it kept going for half an hour! I really need to work on a word document, but I can’t even click on anything. I restarted it, and the same thing kept happening. I even tried putting the battery in again in case it wasn’t installed right, but nothing changed. What am I supposed to do?
I am also more comfortable with Windows XP and I was planning to get that installed… but I am really scared because I just got a new laptop. HELP ME PLEASE!!! I live all alone in an apartment and I’m not that great with computers.

Computer Ram Problems?
November 11th, 2009Ok so i have an HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop with windows vista. It is about 1 year old. I started having problems with it about a month and a half ago. The screen would just go black or a strange colorfull pattern. I noticed the hard drive light stopped blinking when this happened. Usually I could fix it by just taking the battery out and restarting it. But then It wouldn’t even turn on all the way, so my dad found out it was a RAM problem, he removed the 2 gigs of RAM then reinstalled them and it worked fine. We figured they were loose or something. It kept happening again and now i tried the removing the RAM and its not working. When I turn it on i just get a black screen and the hard drive light does not blink. Im pretty sure it is the RAM because it was that problem before. I have about 48% left on my C drive.

Worth Having My Computer Fixed?
November 9th, 2009Hey- First let me say thanks for taking the time to open this question.
I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC laptop- I’m not sure exactly what happened to it, but when i turn it on nothing happens to the screen? The lights on the keyboard turn on and i can kind of hear the “system” start up, but nothing on the screen…Not even a color change or lighting up, nothing. I’m not sure what could be causing this…I’ve tried taking the battery out, putting it back in, plugging it in without the battery etc…It didn’t have any contact with water or anything else- Anyone know what could be causing this? And is it worth getting fixed?
