Does Anyone Own A Lenovo Computer?

November 4th, 2009

I’m a graduating senior and I’m searching for a new laptop. Now I want a Sony Vaio or HP Pavilion. (Well really I want a MacBook, but that’s another story.) My uncle, who works for a computer company is offering me a deal on a 15.4 Lenovo computer. I’m sure what its official name is but these are some of its specs:
Levono 15.4-Inch Laptop with touch sensisitve surface and built in subwoofer.
> CPU Type – Intel Core 2 Duo T5900
> Screen – 15.4″ WXGA
> Memory Size – 4GB
> Hard Disk – 250GB
> Optical Drive – Dual Layer DVD Burner
> Graphics Card – Intel GMA 4500MHD
> Video Memory – shared memory
> Communication – Modem, LAN and WLAN
> Card slot – 1 x Express Card
> Battery – 6-cell lithium ion, Life 4 hours
> Dimensions – 14.20″ x 10.30″ x 1.10-1.40″
> Weight – 6.4 lbs.
He’s offering me and my mom a cheap deal, understanding that money is tight for us. But I really want a Sony, HP or even a Mac. Should I accept the Lenovo? Does anyone know about them?

Why Does My Computer Keep Overheating?

October 19th, 2009

Hi. I have a HP Pavilion dv2000. The laptop has been constantly getting super hot. The bottom part/underneath part of this thing has gotten so hot that the keys start to heat up! I have had it for a little over a year. Also, from day one, the volume key freezes up the screen. I don’t like this computer :( Any suggestions?
p.s. The battery also runs out quickly, it has a tendency to go for roughly an hour and then nearly die, and has had that pattern for about a month.

Why Does My Computer Just Randomly Turn Off?

October 16th, 2009

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC/HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop.
For some reason, it just randomly turns off, and I don’t know why. This might pose a dilemma later on, as I am starting, and if I’m working on something very vital to my success, and it just turns off, I would’ve lost all my hard work.
I pretty much always leave it AC-power connected. I rarely bring my laptop anywhere.
I think the battery-life is short also. I would say a fully-juiced battey only lasts around an hour and some more.

Hp Pavillion Remote Control Does Not Work?

September 23rd, 2009

I have an HP Pavilion DV6700US Entertainment Notebook PC running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. As you know, this laptop comes with Quick Play (QP) buttons above the keyboard as well as a remote control (model RC1762302/00).
The laptop works fine, including the QP buttons. However, although I just inserted a brand new battery, the remote control does not work properly. To be clear, the DVD player works and I can launch Windows Media Center and all the other software with no problem from the laptop. The problem is with the remote.
The remote is sending an IR signal to the laptop. I know this because the POWER (on/off) button on the remote does suspend the laptop. However, it is the only button on the remote which has any effect. None of the OTHER buttons on remote work.
For example: The QP button does nothing. The DVD button does nothing. The Windows Media Center button does nothing. The volume and mute buttons do nothing. The arrow buttons do nothing. The OK button does nothing. But all of these fuunctions work perfectly when done on the laptop directly. I think you get the point.
I have tried to “reset” the remote by pressing what I think is the reset button above the battery. This has no effect.
All I want to do is play DVDs on my laptop using the remote control. This seems to be a known problem, but is there is a known solution?!!
