I’ve had my computer(Hp Pavilion dv6000 laptop) for about fourteen months now, and the warranty went up two months ago.
Before now, I’ve only had minor problems with it(keeps booting up itself and draining the battery during the night).
The last two days, my E:\ drive has been messing up. It loads CDs just fine, and it reads them and all, but it doesn’t register through the computer itself.
It’s like the CD drive is acting independently of the computer.
When I go to “My Computer”, I have the typical C:\ drive, the D:\ recovery drive, and then F:\, which is my ProDuo memory stick.
The CD drive doesn’t show up, no autoplay comes up, it doesn’t think when I put a cd in, but the drive lights up like it’s supposed to.
I’ve tried explaining this as best I can, so I apologize if it’s confusing.
Thanks for your time!

Getting Data Off 2 1/2 Ata Hard Drive…?
November 3rd, 2009I spilled wine into my HP Pavilion ZD8000 Laptop. Two drop’s got through the keyboard and landed on the motherboard. It seems one drop hit the motherboards “G” spot and it fried the motherboard. After I quit cursing and kicking and bitching, smoke started to poor out of the laptop at an alarming rate. (This was after I unplugged it and removed the battery so it must have dischared a capasitor or something..?) Anyways, i bought a 2 1/2 inch USB hard drive enclosure and my hard drive data is still good. I can acess everything except 1 folder. (The folder i need of course) The problem is that when i go to “E:\Documents and Settings\My User Folder\” I get a message box that is titled “MSOChache” and says “E:\Documents and Settings\My User Folder\ is not accessable. Access is denied”. So the data in my users folder is not accessable and the most important documents are within my user’s folder. How can i get into this folder and get my data? Any ideas?

Will Hp Warranty Cover My Motherboard/hard Drive If I Accidentally Broke It?
September 24th, 2009HP PAVILION LAPTOP) The RCA plug was plugged in the audio and somebody walked pass it and knocked the RCA off but the metal piece of the RCA got stuck inside and I think it messed up my motherboard because now my computer cannot restart or go on standby.
Also, it only powers up if the AC adapter is plugged in. It will not start with the battery..just show a blank screen and the lights only but after it starts it’ll still run on the battery so maaybe the motherboard or hard drive is defective? Will hp warranty cover my motherboard/hard drive because of that?

How Long Does A Hard Drive Usually Last In A Laptop?
July 9th, 2009I’ve had my HP Pavilion laptop since winter of 06, but as of late, I’ve been having trouble booting it up. Having it either plugged in, or just running from the battery yields the same result: Shutting down moments after I hit the power key. While I’m trying to turn it on, I notice that my HD inside of it isn’t making a single peep. Could I have some sort of faulty power connectors? Is my battery shot? Or is my hard drive feeling the fritz?

How Much Faster Will A Laptop Be With A Solid State Drive?
July 4th, 2009I’m thinking about buying a solid state drive for my HP Pavilion TX1000.
I have heard mixed reviews about performance and battery life changes.
Will it make the laptop significantly faster? Or is it just a waste of money?
