i have a hp pavilion laptop and lately when i have the ac cord plugged in it will tell me it’s on battery. i have to pull it out and put it back in to get it to say it’s on ac power. can anyone tell me what’s wrong?

Hp Pavilion Dv6000 Boot Problems?

I’ve done a bit of google research and this seems a common problem but as of yet ive not seen a solution. Bascially the DV6000 laptop will display all LED lights and the DVD drive will whirl up then after about 5 seconds the whole thing will just turn off and go dead. The screen does not appear to come on either.
So far i have tried the ram in differnet slots, removing the battery and trying on AC and visa versa, removing the dvd drive, removing and reinserting the HDD. Nothing seems to work. As the laptop doesnt even get as far as turning on the screen this would indicate a hardware problem, so please no “reinstall windows” because thats no possible.
Any suggesstions would be great! appriciate it!

Problems With Getting Power To My Laptop?
July 30th, 2009Okay this is most likely why it is not working, for the longest time I used my laptop like a desktop computer… you know keeping it on for LONG periods of time… it would heat up and yah.. (Yah I know it was a stupid thing to do) and after a while the laptop wouldn’t work with out the power cord being plugged in; it would no longer run off the battery power. Also I had to start keeping it elevated by putting books under it or else it would just shut down on me, or if the plug fell out it would shut down on me. Also the light on the power card doesn’t even light up anymore… so I can’t even start up my laptop…
I am thinking two things are wrong with it, first the battery is probably bust and second the power cord probably needs to be replaced, I already got a new hardrive for it, so I don’t think that is the problem. So do yah guyz think it is just the battery and power cord I need to replace or is there something else?

Laptop Battery Problems?
July 8th, 2009My laptop battery started draining really fast. Something happened like a week ago, before that the battery was holding on for at least 2 hours. Now it goes for 30 minutes only!
The laptop is HP Pavilion zt3000 bought in May 2004 in case its relevant.
I don’t know if it’s the battery or something else.

Several problems have been occurring with my laptop recently. I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 with the 6-cell battery, if that matters.
1. I hibernated my computer when it have roughly 70% battery left, and when I turned it back on it only had 5%.
2. I set up the alarm so that it would beep and give me a pop-up balloon when it reached 9%, so that I would have time to get my power cord and plug it in. But lately it has not been giving me either the beep or the balloon and simply goes into hibernate mode when the battery level gets too low. I checked the settings and the alarm is still set up properly so I don’t know what could be wrong.
3. Sometimes a the icon of the batter with a red X appears in the taskbar when the battery level reaches around 7% or so, but sometimes it doesn’t. Combined with the lack of an audio or text alarm, I often don’t notice when my battery level is getting low and then the computer hibernates without warning.
Does anybody know what could be wrong?
